L. Marshall Coleman Newton
Ms. Newton is an associate with the firm. She was raised in Columbia and Florence, South Carolina. She attended Wofford College where she was active in many campus organizations and graduated with a B.A. in English and government. She then studied at the University of South Carolina School of Journalism and earned her Master of Mass Communication degree in 2006. While in journalism school she worked as a teaching and research assistant. Ms. Newton continued studying at USC in the School of Law and graduated in 2010. She served as a peer mentor to incoming students at the law school and was on the Real Property Probate & Trust journal.
During law school Marshall clerked at the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee. Prior to joining the firm, she served as the judicial clerk to the Honorable James R. Barber, III, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Ms. Newton currently serves as the co-chairperson for Publications and Marketing committee of the Young Lawyers Division of the SC Bar. She volunteers as a mentor at Bradley Elementary School and is active in the Junior League of Columbia.
